SCHOLARSHIP 2020
Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula Chapter of Safari Club International is a non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife conservation, education, humanitarian efforts, and protecting our hunting heritage. To further these goals, we will award a $2000 scholarship to a graduating senior from any accredited public or private high school within the Kenai Peninsula Borough. To be eligible, the student must be accepted into a program of wildlife management or research curriculum in a related field at an accredited college or university and enroll for a minimum of 12 semester hours or full-time equivalent. A trade school or vocational program in a related discipline will be considered, and future teachers are eligible.
Scholarship monies will be disbursed as reimbursement to the applicant’s chosen institution of higher learning. Scholarship funds may be used for tuition or books and supplies. Any funds not used by the recipient will revert to the AKPSCI scholarship fund.
The scholarship selection will be based on the following criteria:
- ESSAY content and grammar: “How COVID-19 has affected the hunting world.” SCI reserves right to publish essays and your name.
- Financial need.
- Scholastic achievement
- Personal resume outlining your school activities and civic involvement (list years of each), work history, hunting experience, and educational goals. 1 or 2 pages.
- Complete application with the financial statement.
- Two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from school personnel.
- Planned field of study.
- Bonus points if parent is SCI member.
- 1 bonus point for each year student has volunteered for SCI.
